Are you looking for someone to help with your family history research? Have you made some good progress, but are stuck on one branch and need some new ideas? Or, are you new to genealogy and want someone to provide a 3 or 4 generation tree to get you started? I'll work with you to help fill in the gaps.
Some of my ongoing projects:
Prentice - One-Name Study
I've been managing a one-name study website called PrenticeNet since 1996. PrenticeNet focuses on all spellings of the name and contains information on Prentices (and related families) all over the world. We have articles on each of the main branches of the families in many countries as well as families that only go back a few generations. Some articles focus on Prentice businesses and places and we even have a "museum" with many Prentice-related objects. Much of the information on PrenticeNet comes from members and visitors and is constantly evolving.
Please contact me if you have Prentice ancestors that you'd like to add to PrenticeNet. I have a wealth of Prentice information, and am happy to help with your research.
WikiTree - Family Tree Repository
WikiTree is a great way to share family history with family members and others. Because it's free to join, and you don't even need to log in to view the profiles, you can just send someone a link and they can easily view your research.
It's set up as a "single tree for all" where profiles are linked to parents and siblings, regardless of who created those profiles. This differs from other platforms where each family and researcher is isolated in separate silos. Using a single tree encourages sharing of information and increases accuracy, since all members can contribute to, and correct, profiles regardless of the "owner."
This helps to remind everyone that it's not really "my family," but actually "our family!"
If you're already on WikiTree, let me know how we are related!
■ I've been researching family histories (mine and others) for more than 45 years. Most of my research has focused on New England, upstate New York, and Michigan, in the US, but also the East of England, in particular Essex county, as well as in the Edinburgh, Scotland area.
I'd love to help with your family research. Please let me know how I can help. Contact Scott.
